About Me

I’m a Seattle native who made my way east to Washington, DC, in September 1999. There I landed a dream job, working in the photo department of the city’s premier regional magazine, Washingtonian, as the Chief Photography Editor.

There, I found myself shooting stunning celebrities, the nation’s most famous (and infamous) politicians, the best restaurants, and trendsetters in fashion, design, and architecture.

Interestingly, anthropology was my calling in college. But when I took a journalism class I found photojournalism captured my artistic imagination and combined my love for anthropology. I love being able to dive through the facade, and bring out the soul of my subjects. To document the joys, struggles, and their life. I knew that photography was what I would do for a living.

I’m an award-winning photographer who in recent years has won the Society of Professional Journalists award, a City and Regional Magazine Award, and two Dateline awards.

When I’m not shooting, you can find me staying active with CrossFit, scuba diving, or traveling to new and exciting places.
